EBS is Virtual Hard Disk in AWS
Amazon Elastic Block Storage (EBS) provides presestent block storage volumes for use with Amazon EC2 instances in the AWS cloud.
Each Amazon EBS volume is automatically replicated within its Availability zone to protect you from component failuire, offering high availablity and durability.
Types of EBS Storage:
- General Purpose SSD
- Provisioned IOPS SSD
- Throughput Optimised HDD
- Cold HDD
- Magnetic
General Purpose SSD: General purpose SSD volume that balances price and performance for a wide varity of transational workloads.
Provisioned IOPS SSD: Provisioned IOPS SSD is high performance SSD volume designed for mission-critical applications.
Throughput Optimised HDD: Throughput Optimised HDD are low cost HDD volume designed for frequently accessed, throughput intensive workloads.
Cold HDD: Cold HDD are lowest cost HDD volumes designed for less frequently accessed workloads.
EBS Magnetic: Previous generation HDD.
